Re-Buy-Cycle fixes it for Jim Re-buy-cycle fixes it for Sir Jimmy Saville, we were happy to supply him with our Oscar Egg lightweight racer/tourer.
Jimmy an avid cyclist & long time fan of the Oscar Egg bicycle, ever since owning one back in his youth, when he bought one for £17.00, he has for the last 30 years been searching for another one, when he found ours for sale & bought it.
Jimmy was a very successful amateur racer back in the day, when there were no professionals, and he rated quite high on the UK scene.
Oscar Egg was time trials champion from 1914 to 1926.
Re-CyclingHere at Re-Buy-Cycle we are always busy recycling old bicycles, doing our best to keep the old classics in circulation by reclaiming (through purchase & donations), repairing and finding loving new homes for our bicycles, but did you know that as well as caring for our environment through the three R’s :-reduce, re-use and recycle, even our boxes come from local bicycle shop Phil Corley, and bubble-wrap from a factory recycle store, we also care for our community.
Sustrans free bike loans In 2007 re-buy-cycle teamed up with Britain’s leading sustainable transport charity Sustrans to provide bikes and mechanical support for a free bike loan scheme developed by Milton Keynes Active Travel. During the year we have worked with young offenders to repair bikes enabling Active Travel to loan them out, free of charge, to our local community. http://www.sustrans.org.uk/default.asp?sID=1140797593515

Re-Buy-Cycle at school We have also worked with the Local Authority and school children providing bike checks. This is an area we are hoping to expand in, offering our services to help all local youth organisations & schools, providing lots of cycling activities from guided rides, bike checks to teaching basic general maintenance and repairs.
Nick Oakley gets our backing We also support our local mountain bike enthusiast Nick Oakley, an ametuer enduro rider, who’s taking part in a couple of enduro’s this summer:
The 24 hour solo on the 26th/27th of July 2008: www.twentyfour12.com
And the 12 hour solo, on the 4th/5th of October 2008: www.thetfordmtbracing.com,
He’s going to ride them both on a singlespeed and he’s currently getting in as much training in at the local Brickhill woods as he can, training on his single speed 29er.
Gary Slater rides for charity We have also supplied Gary Slater with a Thorn Audax frame, forks and some parts to help him build up a road tourer for a sponsored ride in aid of charity Brainwave, a therapy center for brain injury & genetic disorders, a charity run center for children, where a friends child Charlie can go twice a year, where he gets assessed and an individual daily programme is set up that suits his needs, more info can be found at www.brainwave.org.uk
Gary will be riding from MK to lands end, via the Kennet canal, stopping off at the Brainwave Center in Glastonbury, some time in August 08 (dates to be confirmed).
This will be his first ride, with a view to doing more longer distance sponsored rides in the future.
Gary is doing his sponsored bike ride on the 23rd of July 2008
Chopper meet at Billing Aquadrome 2008 We supplied an early swingbike to Trevor Newell who has one of the largest collections of swingbikes in the U.K. & choppers (photo at billing 2008).
He is still in the process of restoring the old classic, I saw him at the Raleigh's rally at the end of August & it was built up, but not resprayed, but looking good!
